The Croc City Crocodile and Reptile Park is between Lanseria and Fourways in Johannesburg in Chartwell. The best way to get there is by car. Its address is: the corner of Cedar Road and the R114, Nietgedacht 535-jq in Chartwell. The GPS coordinates are: 25° 58’ 39.5’’ S 27° 56’ 40.5’’ E.

It is just over 30 minutes to drive from Sandton to the Croc City Crocodile and Reptile Park. From Sandton, go to William Nicol Drive and continue on it for 9,2 km until you get to the Witkoppen exchange, where you will turn to the left. Immediately take the right line and turn into Cedar Road at the first traffic light. Follow Cedar Road for approximately 8 km until you get to the T-Junction, where you turn left onto the R114. Travelling for 300 meters, you will see the Croc City Crocodile & Reptile Park on your right-hand side.

A visit to the Croc City Crocodile & Reptile Park is an interactive educational experience. You will touch a baby crocodile, tarantula, or snakes such as boas and corn snakes. The guides may even allow you to touch a scorpion! The Crocodile and Reptile Park hosts a popular poisonous snake show. You can also have the unique experience of doing a zip line over the crocodile enclosures. Croc City is also a popular birthday party venue.

Croc City Flyover

The Croc City Flyover is another popular activity if you are brave and looking for a unique experience. The croc flyover is a zip line that is over 150 meters long. It allows you to fly over the crocodiles at 5 meters above the ground. The zip line has two cable slides with three platforms: one at the starting point, one in the middle, and another at the end of the zip line route. The first section crosses two crocodile enclosures and ends at the middle platform. The zip line crosses the large crocodile enclosure from the middle to the end platform.

This activity may sound dangerous, but Croc City guides first conduct a short safety session and also helps the adventurer dress with protective gear, including a full-body harness, a sling, and a lanyard as a safety backup. And if you are brave enough to do the flyover, you get a certificate as proof of your bravery!

Trading Hours, Feeding, and Poisonous Show Times at The Crocodile Park

The Croc City Crocodile & Reptile Park is open daily from 9:00 – 16:30. The Park is only closed on Christmas Day. You can interact with the animals upon arrival and join a guided tour as these take place every hour. Children can feed the rabbits and tortoises roaming the grounds in the Crocodile Park.

If you are interested in seeing a crocodile feeding, visit the crocodile park on a Saturday or Sunday at 14:00. The poisonous snake show takes place on Sundays at 11:00 and is an hour long. The show discusses a variety of poisonous snakes, as well as myths and facts about them. You will learn about snake safety and how to react when you find one of these dangerous snakes in the wild while hiking. The guide will help you to safely touch a Puff Adder, one of the most venomous snakes in the world.

There is a pizzeria at the Croc City Crocodile and Reptile Park. Each pizza’s name features a reptile or spider. Interesting pizza names include boomslang, rinkhals, and tarantula. Be sure to try the crocodile pizza to taste the crocodile meat! Visitors also love the vegetarian pizza! Hydrate while visiting, as the African sun can be hot, even during the winter.

There is a small curio and snack shop at the Croc City Crocodile & Reptile Park. You can buy various crocodile products at Croc City, including crocodile cream. The crocodile cream is effective for various skin issues, including burns. You can also buy crocodile leather products and crocodile meat at Croc City.

Tips for Visiting the Croc City Crocodile & Reptile Park

Consider the following when you decide to visit the Croc City:

  1. Croc City is small. It is unlikely that there are enough activities to keep you and your family busy for a full day. Spending half a day at Croc City is more feasible, especially if you go for a crocodile feeding and the snake shows on a Sunday.
  2. The crocodile enclosures are outside. Make sure to have sunscreen on hand to avoid becoming sunburned.
  3. The Croc City Crocodile and Reptile Park can become busy, especially on Sundays, and touching a snake, tarantula, or small crocodile may take longer.
  4. There is a playground for kids and outside seating. Beware of bees and other insects, especially in the Summer.
  5. Small kids will enjoy Croc City more than older children or teenagers.

Other attractions where you can see reptiles and animals in or near Johannesburg include the Montecasino Bird Gardens and the Johannesburg Zoo. If you prefer bigger animals, why not visit the Elephant Sanctuary in Hartbeespoort for a unique experience.

The Croc City Crocodile & Reptile Park’s Prices

Visiting the Croc and Reptile Park is not an expensive adventure for families. Croc City’s entrance fees are R90 for adults, R60 for children and R80 for pensioners. Your entrance ticket includes interaction with the baby crocodiles and the other reptiles, including the spiders. You will also have the help of a professional guide who will provide you with information about the various animals at the Croc and Reptile Farm. You can also take a guided tour of the alligators and crocodiles. Your entrance ticket does not include the cost of the croc flyover.
